Sailing (Windsurfing & Kite)

The oldest Olympic sport (except Athletics), Sailing uses wind power to navigate buoy-marked courses in classes from the single-person Laser to the foiling Nacra 17 catamaran. The goal is the lowest total points over 10-12 races (1st = 1 point), with the medal race (points doubled) as the finale, and the tactics involve "covering" (blocking wind from a rival) and "gaining the shift" (catching a wind change), making it chess on a liquid board.
